Decor Obsessions: DIY Pomander Balls

Believe it or not, pomander balls have been around forever. Remember those air fresheners our mothers used to make by sticking cloves into oranges? Anyone? That is where the gorgeous varieties of pomander balls we see at weddings today originated from. These days, pomander balls can be made using expensive living flowers, fake flowers, colorful tissue paper, or even flower cutouts (like the ones pictured below). So, what does this mean for the typical trendy bride? Well, we can all have pomander balls galore at our weddings! Whether you are willing to fork up major cash for pomander balls using real flowers or your budget only allows for fake or paper flowers, you do not have to give up on having a beautiful wedding day! The idea below features some beautiful pomander balls that can be used to decorate your big day and uses a few relatively inexpensive materials that are easy to find and easy to use. All you need are styrafoam balls of your preferred size, pins, a flower shaped hole puncher, and paper to match the rest of your decor. The hole punch is something that can be found at any craft store or online for a couple dollars. Just punch out your flowers and pin them into the styrafoam balls. And voila! You have yourself some amazing DIY victory! Just remember that this can be a pretty time consuming process so you will want to do this project well in advance to the wedding and you may want to ask some of your family members or girlfriends for help. Most people are ecstatic about helping out with wedding preparations! You could use these balls as centerpieces, hang them down the aisles. create a backdrop for your stage, or anything else your bridal creativity can come up with! This is not the end of our pomander ball obsession, so look forward to more posts with pomander ball inspiration for your big day. Hope you enjoyed and have fun creating your pomander balls decor!

P.S. We would love to see what you come up with, so let us know if you try this DIY!
