DIY Wedding: Place Settings

If you have a slight (or major) obsession with collecting little nick knacks, designing your wedding place settings may be one of the few situations when your pack rat ways will come in handy! A few months of planning, sketching, some thoughtful thrifting and bargain shopping and you can create some place settings that even David Tutera himself could not top :) The great thing about wedding place settings is that they are the one element of your wedding that your guests get to experience up close and personal. So why not make them breathtaking and fabulous? Below are some of my favorite place settings that I have seen thus far and a template you can use to create the perfect place setting! The template is great to refer to so you don't forget any important dining elements, but you don't have to follow it to the T. Let your personal style shine through your place settings and don't forget to have some fun along the way!

Which Disney Princess Is Your Wedding?

Have you ever dreamed of a fairy tale wedding? Who are we kidding...of course you have! But, with all the fairy tale stories out there, it can be hard for a girl to decide which fairy tale will be hers. So, we've done all the hard work for you and have put together inspiration boards for your desi wedding if it was planned by Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Tiana, or Aurora. These wonderful royals have put together all the details for you according to their personal princess style. So, enjoy your 'Desi Disney Wedding' courtesy of the princesses themselves and don't forget to have a couple laughs along the way!

Throw Some Glitter On It!

Glitter is one of those things that can make anything more beautiful. Here is some inspiration you can use to add some sparkle and shine to your big day. My personal favorites are the tree branches which would look amazing as centerpieces in tall glass vases. So go ahead, throw some glitter on it...and enjoy these poetic words by none other than J.R.R. Tolkien. Have a happy Wednesday!

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

-J.R.R. Tolkien

The Desi Knot Loves #2

Welcome to second installment of 'The Desi Knot Loves'. Here are things that I am currently obsessing over. Some desserts, a hint of decor, and a dash of babies thrown into the mix...and voila! You have a cuteness explosion to drool over. So, without any further ado...here is 'The Desi Knot Loves' part two!
1. I absolutely love these cakes. They are the perfect union between simplicity and splendor. I love how the white on white accents give the cake a luxurious texture and the red accent makes the perfect focal point. Perfect for the couple that doesn't try too hard!

2. This is one of the most brilliant ideas I have ever seen! At first I could not figure out what this was and then I realized...they are candy apples all wrapped up and hung from a real tree as wedding favors. Is that brilliant or what?

3. This is something that I will have in my home one day. I assure you of that. It's a relatively simple and inexpensive idea (except for refilling the candy jars of course :) Imagine this in the dinette area of your kitchen by the breakfast table. All you have to do is put up some shelves and fill them with jars of assorted candies. It's like a candy shop for your home. And the sticker labels just add an instant cuteness factor!

4. I have been loving lazy mornings and comfy breakfasts. The best part about the holidays in my opinion. Although winter break is quickly coming to an end, I am doing my best to take full advantage of the extra time I get to prepare breakfast. No bowls of cereal or glasses of milk on the go for me...yet :)

5. I recently came across this image from a Chanel advertisement and I LOVE it. It reminds me of the luxurious glamour of the mughal period. Joda Akbar anyone? Anyways, this image makes me wish I could be the recipient of heirloom jewels passed down for generations, but let's get real...I am no blue blood :( Sigh. A girl can dream.

6. And, I saved the best for last. How adorable are these babies dressed up as Mickey and Minnie Mouse? I honestly have no words for this one. I just felt selfish for not sharing these with you all...so here. I know you just want to squish them don't you? Or maybe that's just me :)

Happy New Year!

Well, here it is! 2012! I just want to start off this post by saying that my posting will become regular again. This holiday break has been quite a handful and today is literally the first day that I am at home with almost nothing to do. I'm recovering from a crazy three day wedding and a sore throat from all the socializing I've been doing. I know...give a girl someone to talk to and she just cannot shut it! Anyways, I don't about you all, but 2011 has been a roller coaster ride for me. And not just any roller coaster, I'm talking about the likes of 'The Big Drop' at Six Flags! So, here's to hoping that 2012 will be full of success, serenity, and love for all of us. I thought I would start off the new year on the right foot by making some goals for myself. I know what you're thinking. Resolutions are so cliche. But, mine are just little places in my life where I want to improve myself...sort of like little adjustments or tweaks to brighten the bigger picture of my life. I called them the big 12 of 2012. So, I came up with 12 goals that I want to accomplish in the next year and posted them on my bulletin board. What about all of you? Are you coming up with personal goals for the year or are you just going with the flow? Anyways, enough with all this talk of aspirations! I hope you all have a very beautiful year ahead of you and many more. And, I hope that you stick with me through this blogging journey and see it grow in the new year! Good luck and stay happy!

So, instead of boring you to death because my resolutions are not the most interesting, I thought I would mix things up a little bit by imparting on you some words of wisdom to remember throughout the next year!
