It's All In The Details

I never thought about the amount of time and attention to detail it takes to embellish Pakistani formal wear. I always assumed the task was accomplished by some monster machine and that the metallic threading and rhinestones were just magically "stamped" onto the fabric.

The only magic here is the talent and dedication of the artists that spend hours crouched over fabric stretched and secured in wooden frames.

I can't help but wonder how underpaid these people probably are. It makes me appreciate the art even more. Seriously, mad respect to these folks.

Enjoy the photographs! I wish I could find the original source and share it, but I just found these floating around on tumblr.

Question...whats the best gift to get for a desi girl on the occasion of engagement ?

@Anonymous Ask her! But if you want to surprise her, you can't go wrong with a Michael Kors watch! Every girl wants some MK in her life;)

@Anonymous Sorry for the two replies, but you got me thinking lol. The most memorable gift is one with meaning. I would recommend a journal or something she can write to you in. Maybe start it for her by writing in the first few pages! This could totally be the only thing you give her or in addition to something else! Let me know what you decide on! Thanks for commenting and good luck!
